Kyra Wilson Cook is the Founding Director of the MetroWest Writers’ Guild. She’s also… really busy. And… maybe not as good with the tech as she thought she was. You can reach her at Kyra@metrowestwriters.org.
Once upon a time, there was a woman who had two young kids who answered the call to head up a small NaNoWriMo region… A lot has happened to her since then. A lot. And if you’re visiting this website because you were Googling around for a writing group in MetroWest Massachusetts and found a website that looks a little… dormant… you’re probably wondering: is this real? Are they still active? Is this some weird internet scam?
This website, like so many things, is a reflection of energy and time. I had both when I slapped it together back in 2021 when we were incorporating and taking off. As the Guild expanded, well: I got busier. And this website got changes, but not upgrades. So it’s looking a little worse for the wear, which isn’t intentional.
I can assure you that we’re still here, still meeting, still writing together as a growing community. We’re publishing our stories internally and out in the world. We’re launching novels. We’re performing poetry. We’re hosting in-person and digital write-ins. We’re meeting weekly in accountability cohorts. We’re writing whole entire novels in a year with a debut novel as our guide.
And we’re doing it while everything in the world continues to add pressure from all sides. But that’s ok.
So: If you’re looking for a place where writers are telling stories, you’re in the right place. The website it looking a little shabby, but that’s because the Founder is busy running things instead of renovating.
(That said, yeah… I hope to make this look better over the summer!)
(And hey… if you’re a person who is good at making websites and maybe wants to help out a little arts nonprofit, I’d love to hear from you!)
If Google brought you here because you have a story to tell, consider signing up to join our community today. The lights are on. We’re totally home.
