Who is thinking about December already? WE ARE!
The Guild is excited to announce that we’re partnering with The Writers’ Loft in Hudson to celebrate MetroWest writers, authors, and readers on December 2nd all day long!
The Writers’ Loft, former fiscal sponsor of the Guild and dear friends of our community, has celebrated a yearly book bazaar for their community in the beginning of December. For the past five years, the Guild has celebrated the end of National Novel Writing Month with a fun social and awards ceremony during the first weekend in December. This year, both of our literary communities have even more to celebrate: the launch of the Loft’s latest poetry anthology for children, Gnomes & Ungnomes: Poems of Hidden Creatures and the launch of the Guild’s new annual journal, [name to be announced on June 16th]!
The Literary Extravaganza will be a celebration of reading and writing in MetroWest!
The event will feature:
- Book sales and signings by local authors!
- We are going to set up tables around the Loft and in the Hudson Mills for authors to sit with their books and sign them for visitors!
- Authors in the Loft and Guild communities write stories for adults and for children. Expect picture books, middle grade books, young adult books, and a adult novels!
- We’ve invited local independent bookstore Word on the Street to help sell books for the event!
- Author readings of story excerpts!
- There is nothing better than listening to an author read a bit of their work. To hear the story in their book is magical!
- For authors, reading our work in front of a live audience can be a wonderful rush! For debut and new authors, it’s even more exciting! We look forward to introducing our authors to local readers via these readings throughout the day!
- Book Launches!
- We’re going to celebrate at LEAST 2 launches at the Extravaganza–Gnomes & Ungnomes and the Guild’s journal. We’ll invite other authors who are launching books during that time period to celebrate their launch with US!
- Writer Awards!
- We’ll be celebrating the end of National Novel Writing Month and the amazing local writers who took on the challenge in November. Participants will be celebrate during the event with giveaways, awards, and prizes!
- Reader giveaways!
- What’s better than a new book during the holiday season? We’ll have door prizes and books to give away as prizes throughout the day!
- And MORE!
We’re so excited to welcome MetroWest to the Loft’s beautiful space to celebrate writers and the readers who enjoy their work! The celebration will start in the morning and go all day long–so we hope that people will come early, stay during the day, and then go out for Hudson’s Holiday Stroll in the afternoon! We’re so lucky to be part of the broader MetroWest community!
