Our Retreat includes amazing sessions taught by wonderful professional writers. We’re so excited to host Jennifer Funk for this asynchronous digital session. It will be available to Retreat participants in our Circle.so community on September 6th.
Sessions will be recorded and Retreat participants will have access to the replay for 6 months.
Building on our first Poetry 101 session in June, we will spend our time together doing a close reading of a poem or two and then trying out a technique or two. Poets, often more explicitly than those writing in other genres, love to call out/back/around to other poems and poets, and we will capitalize on that instinct here, stealing formal mechanisms, conceptual frameworks, and narrative instincts. Play and practice and a lack of preciousness will be the mode here, and expect the literal floor to be littered with figurative dead darlings by the end of the hour. No previous poetic experience required / curious neophytes and old hands alike encouraged to attend!
