As the days get longer and the winter gives way to Spring, we’re intentionally setting weekly goals and putting words on the page. Join us for our annual tradition: The Chase the Light Challenge!

Inspired by the midwinter festivals that celebrate the brightening of days after the darkest weeks of the winter season, we choose to chase the light of spring and story by following the gentle example that nature offers: to slowly, patiently, and expectantly notice Spring’s arrival!

Join us as we set goals together, make thoughtful commitments to our stories, hold each other accountable, and celebrate our wins as we chase the coming bright warm days of Spring!

Weekly Goals

First, we start with setting a big goal for the challenge. Then, every week, we set mini-goals and rewards to help us meet them. We do not intend to write every day of the challenge. Instead, we set work days, make appointments with our work, and keep our promises to ourselves.

Daily Prompts

Using awesome tools like The Story Engine, story oracle cards, the Storymatic prompt system, tarot cards, and quotes, ever day will come with a new set of prompts to keep your story going or to spark new ideas.

Community Support

Our Chase the Light Challenge will take place inside of our exclusive Circle. So community, the home of the Guild. There, you’ll be able to share and discuss with fellow writers. You’ll also get to see more of what we’re all about.

Spark New Ideas

This challenge is perfect for anyone who wants to kickstart their year with a pile of new first drafts to edit and submit for the rest of the year. Want to write a story collection in 2026? Let this be your foundation to get words on the page and stories done! Ready to finally write that novel you’ve always wanted to write? Confront the first blank page with us!

Finish What You’ve Started

Did you start a story during a November writing challenge? Make these the weeks where you get that first draft done. Writers start, writers finish, writers start again. Spend time with us this winter getting your current project to “the end” and then let us spark your next great idea!
